Food Processing FAQs

Are your fittings FDA-approved for food contact?

Yes. Our sanitary fittings and tube are manufactured from 304 and 316L stainless steel that meets FDA requirements for food contact surfaces, and all fittings are built to 3-A sanitary standards for food processing equipment. We can provide Material Test Reports (MTRs) and our 3-A Certificate for your compliance files.

What gasket material should I use for food processing?

EPDM is the most common choice for general food and dairy processing, rated for continuous service up to 250°F with strong CIP/SIP compatibility. Buna-N is a good fit where fats and oils are involved, and silicone or PTFE gaskets handle higher temperatures or more aggressive chemistries. All gasket materials we stock meet FDA food-contact requirements, with certification available on request.

Can you provide documentation for HACCP and food safety audits?

Yes. As a 3-A licensed manufacturer, we provide Material Test Reports (MTRs), Certificates of Conformance (COCs), and our 3-A Certificate, giving you full heat-lot traceability and hygienic design verification for HACCP plans and facility audits.

What's the difference between 304 and 316L stainless steel for food processing?

Both are food-grade alloys that meet FDA requirements for food contact. The key difference is molybdenum content: 316L contains 2-3% moly, giving it stronger resistance to chlorides, acidic brines, and aggressive CIP chemistries. That makes it the right call for dairy, meat, seafood, and high-salt or high-acid product lines. 304 is the standard and cost-effective choice for general food and beverage processing where chloride exposure is controlled.
