Tri-Clamp connections rely on a simple but extremely effective sealing system: two ferrules, a gasket, and a clamp that holds everything together. While ferrules and gaskets are fairly standardized, clamps come in multiple styles—each designed for different pressure ratings, alignment needs, and safety requirements.

Single-Pin Clamps
Single-pin clamps are the most common style used in food, beverage, brewery, and dairy processing. They feature a single hinge and a single tightening bolt (wing nut or hex nut).

- Ideal for low- to medium-pressure applications
- Perfect for frequent assembly/disassembly

Double-Pin Clamps
Double-pin clamps (also called two-pin or dual-hinge clamps) offer improved alignment and sealing consistency. The dual hinge provides a smoother, more even closing action around the ferrules.
Advantages:
- More consistent compression around the entire ferrule
- Better alignment for larger diameter tubing
- Ideal for 2.5", 3", and 4" Tri-Clamp sizes
- Reduces risk of gasket pinching during installation
Best for: Larger-diameter lines, long vertical drops, and applications where alignment is critical.
High-Pressure Tri-Clamp Clamps
High-pressure clamps are designed for demanding applications where standard clamps may deform, loosen, or fail. These clamps typically feature a bolted or heavy-duty locking mechanism rather than a wing nut.
Key features:
- Rated for significantly higher internal pressure
- Bolted design prevents loosening from vibration
- Thicker, reinforced clamp body improves sealing strength
- Often paired with Teflon/PTFE gaskets for aggressive or high-heat processes
Best for: Pressurized systems, pump discharge lines, carbonated beverage production, steam zones, and high-temperature processing.
Important: Always verify the pressure rating of both the clamp and the gasket—overall system pressure rating is limited by the lowest-rated component.
Safety Clamps
Safety Tri-Clamp clamps include a retaining mechanism that prevents accidental loosening or separation, making them essential in applications where vibration, pressure spikes, or personnel safety are concerns.
